Everett Joins House Appropriations Committee
HARRISBURG – Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) today announced he has been appointed to the House Appropriations Committee, in addition to serving on several other committees in the new 2013-14 session.

“I am pleased to be named to this important committee which has direct oversight on the annual budget process and fiscal matters,” said Everett. “I intend to protect the interests of our residents and to ensure that the core functions of state government are provided for, while taking a conservative approach on the spending of taxpayer dollars. The weak economic conditions we have make this process difficult, but with a commonsense approach, we can accomplish these goals.”

Everett said the committee will begin a series of budget hearings on Tuesday, Feb. 19, through Thursday, March 7. The annual budget address by Gov. Tom Corbett is scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

In addition to this appointment, Everett said he has been named to serve on the House State Government Committee, and will remain on the Environmental Resources and Energy and Game and Fisheries committees.

“My committee assignments reflect a broad range of issues affecting the residents of the district and the Commonwealth,” said Everett. “I look forward to meeting the challenges that are ahead.”
